So who is the person behind Tips Checker? It’s me! Simon. But who am I exactly and what right do I have to compare & rate tipsters.
I first created Betting Kingdom back in 2003. I’d return home from a long day at work and spend 2-3 hours each evening building my site, which back then was just a betting guide.
After a few years of working full time and finding 10+ hours a week for my passion project, I quit my job, moved back into my parents loft (aged 27) and decided to have a crack and making a living from my limited web design skills (trust me, they were, and still are to be fair, a limited skill set).
After 6 months the hard work started to pay off. Back then there was very little competition. Certainly no social media to worry about. I simply relied on traffic from google.
Betting Kingdom way back in 2006
Over the years the site evolved and in 2010 I introduced a tipster competition. This is when it really took off. At one stage I was giving out £1000 a month in prizes to my tipsters and at any one time, there could be up to 100 tips active on the site.
It was very time consuming and I invested a lot of money into Betting Kingdom. Sadly things began to go downhill. What went wrong? A combination of bad press for affiliate tipsters and the users choosing to post their picks on Twitter rather than a platform like mine.
This year I decided to try something new. With so many tipsters out there, I wanted to try and bring that information together to help punters who enjoy betting on the big events.
Tips Checker was formed. The idea being to display the most popular tips, posted by the best tipsters, on the biggest events. I would then create profiles for the tipsters I compared, allowing punters to leave their own reviews. These profiles are slowing being added to the website.
I feel like I’m a good judge when it comes to tipsters. At Betting Kingdom there have been over 120,000 tips posted. I’ve checked most of them myself over the past decade and had to settle results for tipsters, following many of them myself.
I’ve had success gambling as well. I’ve bought new cars (second hand naturally), paid for holidays abroad (including Barbados) and treated myself on many occasions with my gambling winnings.
Unfortunately, like so many other winning punters I do find it harder to place bets these days, but I hope to offer some tips and suggestions that can help you improve your gambling skills.
I plan to offer a guide to the best bookmakers and allow punters to share their own reviews and experiences. I also want to keep punters up to date with the latest betting offers available.
In summary I want to create a fun, insightful betting website. I want to help punters enjoy their gambling, win a bit of money along the way, and help tipsters promote their services.
